Volleyball Swept by NAIA No. 2 Jamestown
Hastings, NE – The Hastings College volleyball team hosted NAIA No. 2 Jamestown on Saturday afternoon falling to the Jimmies in straight sets 25-17, 25-15, 25-23 inside Lynn Farrell Arena.
Hastings, NE – The Hastings College volleyball team hosted NAIA No. 2 Jamestown on Saturday afternoon falling to the Jimmies in straight sets 25-17, 25-15, 25-23 inside Lynn Farrell Arena.
The Jimmies came out quick opening up a 10-4 lead in set one as the Broncos were only able to close to within five the rest of the set. Jamestown hit .333 while holding Hastings to -.027.
In set two, it took a Jimmie run of 7-1 to open up a 13-5 lead en route to the 25-15 set two victory as the Hastings offense continued to struggle.
Set three brought some life into the Lady Broncos holding their own at 12-11 when HC went on a run of its own.
This run was started by a kill from Amani Monroe and then an over pass gave a clear path for Peyton Roper as she hammered home the kill for the 13-12 lead. Following a Jimmie attack error from Anna Holen, Makenna went out to Marlee Taylor for the kill and the 15-12 lead. Asher followed suit with an ace forcing a Jimmie timeout.
Coming out of the timeout, Asher connected with Monroe for the kill and the 17-12 lead. But the Jimmies fought right back out scoring Hastings 13-6 to take the sweep.
For the match, Hastings hit .085 while Jamestown hit .359.
Taylor led Hastings with nine kills while hitting .333 as Monroe added six kills and hit .385.
Asher led Hastings with 21 assists and three service aces.
Hastings falls to 16-6 (5-3) on the year.
