Volleyball Drops GPAC Opener at Concordia
Seward, NE – The Hastings College volleyball team opened up Great Plains Athletic Conference on the road falling to Concordia 25-20, 25-20, 25-12 on Wednesday night.
Seward, NE – The Hastings College volleyball team opened up Great Plains Athletic Conference on the road falling to Concordia 25-20, 25-20, 25-12 on Wednesday night.
The Lady Broncos got off to a good start in set one behind two kills from Marlee Taylor and a kill from Amani Monroe as HC led 8-4. The Bulldogs countered with a 4-0 run and then the team went back-and-forth until CUNE led 20-19. Concordia then finished the set on a 5-1 run to take set one 25-20.
In set two, Hastings fell behind 15-9 but back-to-back kills from Rachel Hefta plus an attack error from Gabi Nordaker made it 15-12. Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Lady Broncos would get dropping set two 25-20.
Set three would get away from Hastings as HC dropped the match.
Concordia hit .290 while Hastings was held to just .128 for the match.
Peyton Roper led the way as she finished with a match high 10 kills while hitting .259. Hefta finished with seven kills while Taylor and Majesta Valasek each finished with six. Carly Rodaway led the Bulldogs with 10 kills while hitting .400.
Hastings falls to 6-2 (0-1) on the year and will be back in action Friday Sept. 2 hitting the road to take part in the Labor Day Classic as HC will take on Saint Francis (IN) with first serve set for 4:00 pm in North Sioux City, IA.
