Women's Soccer Gets Back in the Win Column by Defeating Mount Marty
Hastings, NE – The Hastings College women’s soccer team was looking to get out of this rut it has been in the last week and a half and did just that by defeating Mount Marty 4-0 on Saturday evening on Lloyd Wilson Field.
Hastings, NE – The Hastings College women's soccer team was looking to get out of this rut it has been in the last week and a half and did just that by defeating Mount Marty 4-0 on Saturday evening on Lloyd Wilson Field.
As has been the case ever since Mount Marty joined the Great Plains Athletic Conference, Hastings dominated the action early on and finally found pay dirt in the 15th minute. Dekota Schubert sent a cross into the box where Eva Dunker deflected the ball past Kelsey Tabbert for her fourth goal of the season and the 1-0 lead.
In the 16th minute, Megan Lampe sent a corner kick into the box where Tabbert tried to knock the ball away only for it to land at the feet of Schubert as she one timed it into the back of the net for the 2-0 lead.
The Lady Broncos picked up goal number three when Dakota Pritchard sent a ball into the box where Dulce Lopez back heeled the ball off a Lancer defender right to Jesse Chartier as she found the back of the net for the 3-0 lead in the 35th minute. This was Chartier's first collegiate goal.
Dulce Lopez would round out the scoring in the 55th minute when Naomi Pedroza sent a perfect through ball as Lopez out ran the defender and place a perfect shot to the near post and into the side net for the 4-0 lead and her third goal of the year.
Hastings out shot the Lancers 30-to-9 including a 15-to-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Hastings improves to 8-2-2 (3-2-2) on the year and will be back in action Wednesday Oct. 12 as Doane comes to town with kickoff set for 5:30 pm on Lloyd Wilson Field.
