Shubert's PK Pushes Women's Soccer Past Concordia

Seward, NE – The Hastings College women's soccer team picked up a huge road win with its 1-0 victory over Concordia on Saturday evening.
Hastings nearly put the Bulldogs down in the 10th minute when Dekota Schubert ripped a shot off the post and out to keep the game scoreless.
The Lady Broncos would get the most shots off but couldn't find the back of the net until a ball hit by Sara Pedroza bounced off the hand of a Concordia defender setting up a penalty kick in the 31st minute. Schubert stepped up and buried the shot into the bottom right corner for the 1-0 lead.
Midway through the second half, the Bulldogs' Aliyah Aldama picked up a second yellow card and was sent off with a red in the 65th minute which certainly helped Hastings.
Miley Prince nearly made it a 2-0 game in the 69th minute when her shot bounced off the cross bar.
Over the past 24 minutes, Concordia managed just one more shot as Hastings escaped Seward with the 1-0 victory.
Hastings did out shoot the Bulldogs 16-to-9 and 9-to-3 in shots on goal. Sofie Jackson-Pedersen earned her seventh clean sheet of the season with her three saves.
Hastings improves to 10-2-2 (5-2-2) on the year and will be back in action Wednesday Oct. 19 hitting the road to take on College of Saint Mary with kickoff set for 3:00 pm in Omaha, NE. With the win, Hastings climbs to fourth in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings.
