Not much really happened in the first half but there was plenty to talk about in the second half. With only two shots in the first half by Hastings, the Lady Broncos met that number just over five minutes into the second with the third coming from Naomi Pedroza looking to score off a cross but Jenn Amaro turned her away with a nice save at the ground. Two minutes later, Dekota Schubert ripped a shot from 18-yards out but Amaro was able to get just enough on it to tip it over the cross bar to keep it a 0-0 game.
Then became a bit chippy and some jawing also began to happen as the Hastings bench picked up a yellow card in the 61st minute. Due to some more jawing and frustration, Hastings did receive three more yellow cards in the second half. Sofie Jackson-Pedersen was tested in the 61st minute on a shot from Ximena Jauregui but made the save then again tested in the 64th minute but turned Sinai Bernal away to keep it 0-0.
Hastings would finally strike when Miley Prine threw a ball into the box that was misplayed by the back line where Dulce Lopez won the foot race to the ball beating Amaro and then putting the shot into an empty net for the 1-0 lead in the 70th minute.
The Hastings back line did its job allowing just three more shots the rest of the way and the one that nearly cost them was a cross from Britney Nolte that ended up bouncing off the cross bar and back into the field of play as Hastings would hold on for the 1-0 victory.
HC finished the game with nine shots to just six for the Bruins but Bellevue did hold a slight 4-to-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Jackson-Pedersen picked up her second clean sheet of the season with her four saves.
Hastings improves to 3-0 on the year and will be back in action Wednesday Sept. 7 hitting the road to take on Bethany (KS) with kickoff set for 7:00 pm down in Lindsborg, KS.
