Hastings, NE – The Hastings College women's soccer team took a tough loss to Jamestown on Thursday night falling 1-0 on Lloyd Wilson Field.
Hastings held an advantage in shots in the first half and had multiple opportunities to strike first but just couldn't put the ball in the net.
One of the best opportunities was in the 25th minute when Miley Prine hit a beautiful header that eluded Tea Pence but the ball bounced back into play off the post where Naomi Pedroza hit a shot that Pence was able to somehow stop, pushing the ball wide to keep it 0-0.
Another opportunity presented itself as a cross found Prine on the back post but her shot would go high in the 35th minute.
The score remained 0-0 into the 74th minute when some controversy came into play following a Jamestown corner kick as it appeared Sofie Jackson-Pedersen had grabbed the ball before Miarosa Gyllenswan ran through her arms as the ball ended up in the net and was ruled a goal.
The Lady Broncos continued to keep the pressure on the Jimmies but just couldn't get the connections to work to tie the game as Hastings went on to lose 1-0.
Hastings held a 12-to-7 advantage in shots with eight of them coming in the first half. HC also held a 6-to-4 advantage in shots on goal. Jackson-Pedersen finished with three saves.
Hastings is now 6-1 (1-1) on the year and will be back in action Saturday Sept. 24 as Presentation comes to town with kickoff set for 5:30 pm on Lloyd Wilson Field.
