GPAC Championship Game Moved to Wednesday for Women's Soccer
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Women's Soccer Tournament semifinal round is complete. After each picking up a win by one goal on Saturday, top-seed Jamestown and three-seed Hastings will meet in the final.
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Women's Soccer Tournament semifinal round is complete. After each picking up a win by one goal on Saturday, top-seed Jamestown and three-seed Hastings will meet in the final.
The top seed in the tournament, regular-season champion Jamestown, needed an offensive outburst of four goals to get by the fourth-seeded Warriors of Midland by a score of 4-3.
On the other side of the bracket, two-seed Briar Cliff found themselves in an overtime match for the second time in as many games. This time, the three-seed Hastings got the better of the Chargers, winning 2-1.
The final will be played in Jamestown, North Dakota on Thursday, November 9. The match is currently scheduled for 4 PM. This game has been moved up from Thursday to Wednesday due to impending snow in the forecast for Jamestown.
In the regular season the Jimmies picked up a 1-0 victory over the Broncos in Hastings.
The winner of the GPAC Tournament will advance, as the league's second automatic representative, to the NAIA National Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round (on November 17-19). If the regular season champion (Jamestown) wins the Tournament, the regular season runner-up (Briar Cliff) will receive the second NAIA berth to the postseason.
The NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Final Site is in Orange Beach, Alabama, November 29 – December 5, 2022, at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.
