Second Half Surge Pushes Women's Soccer Past Swedes
Lindsborg, KS – The Hastings College women’s soccer team did not get off to the start it was hoping too but ended the game strong to defeat Bethany 5-1 on Wednesday evening.

Lindsborg, KS – The Hastings College women's soccer team did not get off to the start it was hoping too but ended the game strong to defeat Bethany 5-1 on Wednesday evening.
In the 11th minute, Hastings found itself trailing when Melissa Estrada found the back of the net for the early 1-0 lead.
It may have taken a bit longer than Head Coach Jade Ovendale would have liked but Hastings tied things up when Julia Vilanova connected with Dekota Schubert in the 37th minute to tie the game 1-1.
That score line held into the second half where Dekota Schubert scored her second of the game in the 57th minute for the 2-1 lead as the Lady Broncos were off and running.
Naomi Pedroza struck gold in the 64th minute and in the 66th minute, Miley Prine found Pedroza for her second goal of the game.
Hastings finally rounded out the scoring in the 90th minute when Sofia Gomez-Garcia scored as Hastings had its 5-1 victory and to stay undefeated at 4-0.
Hastings held a 17-to-3 advantage in shots including a 12-to-3 advantage in shots on goal. Prine led the way with four total shots.
Hastings moves to 4-0 on the year and will be back in action Saturday Sept. 10 as Baker comes to town with kickoff set for 5:30 pm on Lloyd Wilson Field.
