Women's Soccer Dominates Tabor in 4-1 Victory
Hastings, NE – The Hastings College women’s soccer team picked up win number two by defeating Tabor 4-1 on Wednesday evening on Lloyd Wilson Field.

Hastings, NE – The Hastings College women's soccer team picked up win number two by defeating Tabor 4-1 on Wednesday evening on Lloyd Wilson Field.
The Lady Broncos bombarded the goal throughout the first 20 minutes but their shots just couldn't find the back of the net while Ashly Johnson also made huge saves to keep the game tied 0-0.
Hastings finally broke through on a free kick from Dekota Schubert as she hit an absolute laser that cleared the out reached hand of Johnson for the 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute.
HC kept up the pressure but had to settle for the 1-0 lead heading into the second half.
This is where Hastings would add to its lead first when Sofia Gomez-Garcia sent a perfect cross into the box where Naomi Pedroza deflected the ball off her shin and into the goal to make it 2-0 in the 51st minute.
Just two minutes later, Naomi Pedroza took the ball into the right side of the box and found her sister Sara Pedroza at the back post where she tapped the ball into an open net to make it 3-0.
The game remained this way until a long kick from Johnson was headed on by April Ochoa where Payton Eskridge sprinted past the defense and put the ball past Sofie Jackson-Pedersen to make it 3-1 in the 76th minute.
Hastings countered when Schubert found a wide-open Eva Dunker as she ripped a shot past Johnson to make it 4-1 in the 78th minute to round out the scoring.
Hastings dominated from start to finish out shooting the Bluejays 24-to-7 including a 14-to-4 advantage in shots on goal. Hastings also held an advantage in corner kicks at 9-to-0.
Hastings improves to 2-0 on the year and will be back in action Saturday Sept. 3 as Bellevue comes to town with kickoff set for 5:00 pm on Lloyd Wilson Field.
