Hastings Falls to Morningside in Season Finale
Sioux City, IA - The Hastings College women's basketball team fell in its season finale on Saturday 79-63 against Morningside.
The Broncos showed its tenacity in the first half holding down the Mustangs to just 41 percent from the floor and held a 39-33 lead at halftime. Hastings was on fire hitting just over 57 percent from the floor. The second half was a much different story.
The Broncos held a 51-47 lead with 11:44 remaining in the second half before Morningside ran off 22 straight points en-route to the Great Plains Athletic Conference Regular Season Title. With the tie-breakers Hastings will finish eighth in the conference and will turn right back around to play Morningside in the first round of the GPAC tournament.
Hastings was led by Cami Bruckman as she finished with 14 points while Brittney Wong added 11.
Morningside was led by Chelsie Trask as she finished with a career high 35 points on 11-17 from the floor including hitting 6-10 from behind the three-point line.d
With the loss Hastings falls to 15-15 (10-10) on the season and although it is not official, it appears the Broncos will be heading right back to Sioux City, IA to play the Mustangs again Wednesday February 20 with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m..
