Broncos Fall to Briar Cliff 79-70 in OT
Sioux City, IA - The Hastings College Women's basketball team showed they can play with one of the best teams in the country taking Briar Cliff in to overtime before falling 79-70 on Saturday night.
Trailing 64-61, Hastings brought the ball down the floor with a chance to tie the game. Cami Bruckman had struggled from behind the three-point line all night but got the ball on the left wing took one dribble to her left creating enough separation and drilled her lone three-pointer of the night with just :08 remaining to force overtime.
Unfortunately it was not enough as the Broncos went cold in the overtime period and the Chargers avoided the upset.
Bruckman led all scorers with 23 points on 9-23 shooting but just 1-9 from behind the arc. Tanasia Uhrig and Laurel Zwiener finished the game with 10 points each.
Briar Cliff was led by Kelsey Evans as she finished with 19 points on 8-16 shooting. She received plenty of help from Paige Herrboldt as she finished with 16 and Kela Cihak finished with 13.
With the loss, Hastings falls to 11-12 (6-7) on the year and will be back in action next Saturday Jan. 26 as Northwestern comes to town with tip-off set for 2:00 p.m. at Lynn Farrell Arena.
