Broncos fall to No. 3 Bobcats
Salina, KS - The Hastings College Women's Basketball Team showed plenty of potential holding a double digit lead over College of the Ozarks before falling 74-65 on Friday afternoon.
It was a first half where the Broncos found their stride shooting 60 percent from the floor while holding the Bobcats to just over 34 percent. But in the end it was experience that sent the Broncos to their second straight loss to a top 25 squad.
C of O flipped the script in the second half shooting over 55 percent from the floor while holding the Broncos to just under 37 percent. The Broncos may have out shot the Bobcats 47 percent to 45 percent but it was free throws that would be a major difference as well.
The Bobcats went 20-27 including their star Morgan Smith hitting 10-13 as Hastings finished just 7-12 from the line. Smith would finish with a game high 26 points.
Hastings was paced by Brittney Wong as she dropped 15 point while Chelsey Morten added 14 and Laurel Zwiener had 11.
This tough stretch does not end for the Broncos as they will now face NAIA Division I opponent John Brown University in their second game of the Kansas Wesleyan Women's Classic with tip off set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
