Hastings Upends Dordt 73-65
Hastings, NE - The Hastings College Women's Basketball Team found its way back into the win column following a big conference victory 73-65 against Dordt College on Wednesday night.
Hastings got a much needed pick me up from Cami Bruckman following two straight non-conference losses. Bruckman utilized the drive and the left had to cause fits all night long for the Defenders leading all scorers with 21 points.
Three other Broncos found their way into double digits as Chelsey Morten, Brittney Wong and Frankie Peterson all scored in double figures . Dordt was led by Elise Maresh as she finished with 19.
Hastings may not have won the turnover battle but found a way to dominate the boards against the Defenders out rebounding them 38-23 for the game. Another key to the game was the Broncos ability to knock down some shots which has been tough all season long.
Hastings finished the night at nearly 46 percent from the floor which is a major improvement from their season average of just 35 percent.
With the win, Hastings improves to 9-9 (4-4) and will be back in action Saturday Jan. 5 as they will travel to Yankton, SD to take on Mount Marty with tip-off set for 2:00 p.m.
