Lady Broncos Win 4th Straight by Blitzing Lancers

The Lady Broncos jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead as Kiernan Paulk got things rolling with a three and then Lexi Kraft made it 5-2 as she hit a mid-range jumper. Then Kraft went inside to Rachel Goodon for the layup and then Tathis Arredondo picked up her second steal and took it the distance for the layup to make it 9-2.
Hastings was just getting started after the Lancers cut it to three at 11-8. Goodon would connect from the low block followed by a jumper from Alexis Tapia to make it 17-8. After a Lancer bucket, Miriam Miller would bury a three followed by a Bailey Kissinger layup following a steal to make it 22-10. After the teams traded points, Paulk hit another three and then late in the first quarter, Mariyah Avila draind another three to put Hastings up 30-12 after one quarter of play.
The Lady Broncos then blew the doors off in the second quarter out scoring MMU 19-to-3 and led 49-15 at halftime and never looked back.
Four Lady Broncos scored in double figures led by Avila as she finished with 18 points as she went 7-for-12 from the floor and 4-for-8 from downtown. Goodon added 14 points as she was 4-for-7 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. Paulk added 12 points as she was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc and Kissinger added 11 points off the bench as she was 4-for-6 from the floor.
Hastings shot nearly 50 percent (30-for-61) from the floor while holding Mount Marty to just 23.7 percent (14-for-59). Rebounding was pretty even as Hastings held the edge at 39-to-37. Turnovers were certainly in the favor of Hastings as MMU turned the ball over 23 times compared to just 12 for HC. Hastings grew the lead as big as 51 points before taking the game by 45.
Hastings climbs above .500 and is 8-7 (4-5) on the year and will be back in action Saturday Jan. 13 hitting the road to take on Briar Cliff with tipoff set for 2:00 pm out in Sioux City, IA.
