Women's Basketball Falls to Northwestern
Hastings, NE – The Hastings College women’s basketball team was playing well early but Northwestern eventually pulled away for the 80-53 victory on Saturday afternoon inside Lynn Farrell Arena.

Lexi Kraft got the Lady Broncos off to a good start as she hit her first three of the game to put HC up 3-2. Northwestern came right back with a bucket but Tathis Arredondo buried a jumper to put Hastings back on top.
The Red Raiders would then build the lead eight at 23-15 early in the second quarter but HC countered with a nice run starting with a three from Mariyah Avila. Avila came right back and drained another three to make it 23-21 with 7:35 to go in the half. Hastings then went to the low block where Jordan Koehler scored to tie the game 23-23. With 7:12 to go.
Unfortunately, this would be the last score of the half for Hastings was NWIC ended the half on a 14-0 run and eventually pulled away for the 80-53 victory.
Avila led the way for Hastings with 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting and she was 3-for-5 from downtown. Asia Tyler added seven points off the bench as did Miriam Miller as the duo were 5-for-6 from the floor.
Hastings finished the game shooting 34.7 percent (17-for-49) from the floor asw Northwestern finished 50 percent (29-for-58). The Red Raiders took advantage of their size out rebounding Hastings 43-to-23.
Hastings is now 3-6 (1-4) on the year and will be back in action Wedneseday Dec. 6 hitting the road to take on College of Saint Mary with tipoff set for 6:00 pm inside the Lied Fitness Center in Omaha, NE.
