Men's Basketball Out Runs Mount Marty
Hastings - The Hastings College men's basketball team defeated Mount Marty 87-75 on Wednesday night in Lynn Farrell Arena in Great Plains Athletic Conference Action.
After getting off to a perfect start jumping out to a 10-0 lead, the Lancers would not make life easy for the Broncos keeping the game within striking distance into the second half.
After MMC pulled to within two points at 40-38 on an OJ Thok 3-pointer early in the second half, Connor Musiel (JR/Lincoln, NE) would get a steal which would lead to a bucket for Rich Williams (SR/Scottsbluff, NE) as that would begin nice run for HC.
Following another Lancer turnover, Jake Hansen (JR/Omaha, NE) would drain a 3-pointer pushing the Bronco lead to seven at 45-38. Then back-to-back Musiel buckets plus a Drew Callaghan (JR/North Platte, NE) bucket pushed the lead to double digits at 13 with 14:11 remaining as MMC would struggle to get within striking distance the rest of the way.
Williams led the way scoring a game high 24 points as he shot lights out connecting on 9-of-15 shots and 6-of-10 from downtown. Musiel added 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting while Bart Hiscock (FR/Bennington, NE) and Jake Hansen each finished in double figures.
Hastings is now 10-9 (4-3) on the season and will be back in action Saturday Jan. 7 hitting the road to take on Midland with tip-off set for 4:00 p.m. in Fremont, NE.
