Men's Basketball Rolls to Season Opening Victory
York - The Hastings College men's basketball team got the season off to a great start defeating Friends 93-71 at the York Classic on Friday night.
Bart Hiscock (FR/Bennington, NE) got his collegiate career off to a great start scoring a game high 27 points on 11-of-14 shooting while also pulling down seven rebounds.
Trey Moore (SR/Omaha, NE) also made his Bronco debut a good one scoring 19 points and dishing out seven assists.
Hastings was able to really open the game up late in the first half and early in the second going on a 9-2 run opening up a 44-30 lead.
The run was started when Rich Williams (SR/Scottsbluff, NE) connected on a bucket late in the first half and then Hiscock buried a three pointer to get the scoring going in the second half.
Hiscock would then connect on back-to-back buckets to grow the lead to 14.
From there the Broncos would grow the lead to as many as 23 points before winning by 22 points.
Hastings could not have asked for a better start shooting right at 55 percent from the floor and nearly 40 percent from behind the arc.
The Bronco defense did its part holding the Falcons to just 40 percent shooting.
Connor Musiel (JR/Lincoln, NE) added 11 points and Drew Callaghan (JR/North Platte, NE) finished with eight points and a game high 11 rebounds.
Hastings is now 1-0 on the season and will be back in action Saturday Oct. 29 taking on No. 17 York with tip-off set for 5:00 p.m. in York, NE.
