Bluejays Shoot Lights Out in Win over Broncos
Hilsboro, KS - The Hastings College men's basketball team ran into a buzzsaw on Saturday night as Tabor shot 70 percent in the second half defeating the Broncos 96-78 to finish up the Tabor Classic.
It was a tight ball game at halftime as Hastings trailed 40-37 but the Bluejays would not miss much in the second half connecting on 20-of-27 shots from the floor to pull away for the victory.
Jake Hansen (JR/Omaha, NE) led the Broncos with 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting including hitting on 4-of-10 3-pointers. Rich Williams (SR/Scottsbluff, NE) finished with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting while Trey Moore (SR/Omaha, NE) and Bart Hiscock (FR/Bennington, NE) each finished in double figures.
Drew Callaghan (JR/North Platte, NE) added seven points while pulling down nine boards. Lance Carter led the Bluejays with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting.
Hastings falls to 9-9 (3-3) on the year and will be back in action Wednesday Jan. 4 as Mount Marty comes to town with tip-off set for 8:00 p.m. in Lynn Farrell Arena.
