Hastings- The Hastings College men's basketball team led from start to finish and held off a late rally by the Dordt (IA) Defenders enroute to a 102-87 win Saturday evening at Lynn Farrell Arena.
The first half started with the Broncos (6-5,3-1 GPAC) and the Defenders (6-7,0-4 GPAC) trading baskets for the first seven minutes to a 17-16 Hastings lead. Neither team were able to break away from the other team, as Dordt lead three times by one, and the largest Hastings lead was nine going into halftime.
Second half action was just as intense as the first half, with Hastings getting the lead up to 13 early in the half, but Dordt would cut the deficit down to as much as 8 with 12:42 left in the game. The Broncos would get hot again to get their lead to 24 with 6:09 left in the game, though the Defenders would be resilient, getting the game to an 11-point deficit with only 2:28 left in the game. This would be the last push by Dordt, as Hastings would control the game to a 102-87 win.
