Men's Basketball Drops Heartbreaker to Bethel
North Newton, KS - The Hastings College men's basketball team saw a last second floater dash its hopes of a quality road win falling to Bethel (Kan.) 73-72 on Tuesday night.
Following two big free throws from Trey Moore (SR/Omaha, NE) to put the Bronocs up 72-71 with :13 remaining, Deven Goodwin was able to get his floater to fall and snag the one point victory away from Hastings.
Hastings led 69-60 when Kevin Harkins (JR/Omaha, NE) ripped down the offensive board and put it back in with just over 6:00 to play but then the shots stopped falling.
Over the next four minutes, Hastings would miss six three-pointers, a free throw and a jumper which helped fuel the Thresher comeback.
Moore and Jake Hansen (JR/Omaha, NE) led the way for the Broncos with 15 points a piece while Connor Musiel (JR/Lincoln, NE), Bart Hiscock (FR/Bennington, NE) and Rich Williams (SR/Scottsbluff, NE) each finished in double figures. Hiscock also pulled down a team high nine rebounds.
Moore also led the team with six assists.
Hastings falls to 2-2 and will be back in action Saturday Nov. 12 hitting the road to open up conference play against No. 4 Briar Cliff with tip-off set for 4:00 p.m. in Sioux City, IA.
