Slow Start Dooms Men's Basketball at Northwestern
Orange City, IA - The Hastings College men's basketball team could not over come the slow start to the first half falling to the Red Raiders 88-78 on Wednesday night at the Bultman Center.
It was a first half where Hastings just could not get much going shooting just 25 percent from the floor as Northwestern built a 24 point lead and led 47-26 at halftime.
The lead would baloon to as many as 28 points early in the second half. Throughout the final 10 minutes of the second half, the Broncos would slowly cut into the deficit eventually getting the lead down to single digits at 81-72 with 3:11 to go but could not complete the comeback.
Jake Hansen (JR/Omaha, NE) led the way with a career hight 26 points on 11-for-14 shooting. Trey Moore (SR/Omaha, NE) added 14 points while Rich Williams (SR/Scottsbluff, NE) finished with 12 points and Connor Musiel (JR/Lincoln, NE) finished with 10 points.
Hastings did force 20 Red Raider turnovers while only committing 11 of its own.
Hastings is now 6-6 (3-2) on the season and will be back in action Saturday Dec. 10 as Dakota Welseyan comes to town with tip-off set for 4:00 p.m. in Lynn Farrell Arena.
