Men's Basketball Runs Past Doane
Hastings - The Hastings College men's basketball team wasted little time in jumping out to a big lead as the Broncos defeated Doane University 83-59 on Wednesday night in Lynn Farrell Arena.
Hastings jumped out to a 6-0 lead on the strength of buckets from Connor Musiel (JR/Lincoln, NE), Jake Hansen (JR/Omaha, NE) and Bart Hiscock (FR/Bennington, NE) before the Tigers knew what had hit them.
Later in the first half, Hastings added to its lead when Musiel scored five straight points including a three pointer and then another bucket from Hiscock as Hastings led 24-13 with 8:54 to go and really never looked back.
Hansen led all scorers with 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting while Rich Williams (SR/Scottsbluff, NE) added 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting including4-for-5 from downtown.
Trey Moore (SR/Omaha, NE) pitched in a double-double scoring 12 points while pulling down 12 rebounds. Musiel and Hiscock each finished with 12 points.
HC dominated the boards 50-to-32 and shot nearly 49 percent from the floor while holding Doane to just 34 percent shooting.
Hastings also shot 43 percent (9-of-21) from behind the arc.
The Broncos are now 5-5 (2-1) on the season and will be back in action Saturday Dec. 3 as Dordt comes to town with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m. in Lynn Farrell Arena.
