Men's Soccer Moves on to GPAC Championship
Hastings, NE – The Hastings College men’s soccer team defeated Midland 2-0 on Tuesday night to advance to the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship.

There really wasn't much that happened in the first 12 minutes of the game as both teams were trying to feel one another out until the Warriors had a great opportunity in the 13th minute but Gonzalo Bocaz's shot was just wide of the frame.
The Broncos then had a run of three straight corner kicks when on the third one, Tyler Mase got his head to the Jackson Brown cross for his ninth goal of the season and the all important 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.
Hastings increased its lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute when Ryan Lewis slipped a pass to Paul Obrusnik and his shot caught the keeper by surprise as it found the back of the net uncontested for his ninth goal of the season.
Things stayed calm the rest of the half but it would not stay that way into the second half as things continued to get chippy as guys stayed down with injuries and cards began to come out.
After only one yellow card in the first half, there were a total of five cards in the second half including a red card for each squad.
But Hastings got out of this one with the victory and moves on to the GPAC Championship.
Hastings out shot the Warriors 9-to-7 and 4-to-2 in shots on goal.
Hastings improves to 15-1-1 and will host Concordia Friday at 7:00 pm on Lloyd Wilson Field. Both teams had earned automatic bids to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
