Men's Soccer Stunned at Buzzer by Benedictine
Atchison, KS – The Hastings College men’s soccer team lost an absolute heartbreaker to Benedictine 3-2 on Wednesday evening.

Atchison, KS – The Hastings College men's soccer team lost an absolute heartbreaker to Benedictine 3-2 on Wednesday evening.
The Broncos were already in a tough spot giving up two first half goals to trail 2-0 heading into the final 45 minutes. Hastings also missed a chance to score early in the first when Tyler Mase's penalty kick was saved by keeper Noah Reuscher.
The Broncos turned up the pressure in the second half and eventually was awarded a penalty kick in the 60th minute where Ross Murphy put HC on the board to make it 2-1
In the 74th minute, Hastings picked up a loose ball in the offensive third where David Panter fed the ball through to Heitor Olivera as he stepped past a defender and the goalie putting the ball into the open net to tie the game 2-2.
It would all be for not as Hastings would turn the ball over with around :10 to go and then Adam Aroua struck a laser into the top left corner of the net with just :03 to go to defeat the Broncos 3-2.
Hastings did out shoot the Ravens 20-13 as both teams finished with 10 shots on goal. Brendan Dally finished the match with seven saves.
Hastings is now 1-1 on the year and will be back in action Saturday hitting the road to take on McPherson (KS) Saturday Sept. 10 with kickoff set for 1:00 pm down in McPherson, KS.
