Obrusnik Nets Hat-Trick as Men's Soccer Rolls Past McPherson
McPherson, KS – The Hastings College men’s soccer team scored early and then kept the peddle down in its 6-1 victory over McPherson on Sunday afternoon.

McPherson, KS – The Hastings College men's soccer team scored early and then kept the pedal down in its 6-1 victory over McPherson on Sunday afternoon.
Just 10 minutes into the game, the Bulldogs committed a foul in the box where Tyler Mase would take advantage as he buried the penalty kick into the bottom right corner for the 1-0 lead.
Just :32 later, David Panter put a shot on goal that was saved by Colby Swift only to have Paul Obrusnik head the ball into the net for the 2-0 lead.
That score remained into the second half where Panter broke free behind the McPherson defense getting the goal just :28 into the second half to make it 3-0.
In the 48th minute, Panter this time sent in a cross where Obrusnik headed it home for his second of the day and the 4-0 lead.
The Bulldogs would get a goal in the 56th minute by Antoine Detavernier to make it 4-1 but Hastings was not done with its offensive output.
In the 74th minute, Ryan Lewis found Obrusnik for his first career hat-trick to make it 5-1 and then Lewis scored in the 77th minute when Mase connected with him as Hastings now led 6-1 as that would eventually be the final.
The Broncos finished the game with 19 total shots compared to just four for McPherson. 11 of the Broncos' shots were on target while three were for McPherson.
Hastings improves to 2-1 on the year and will open up Great Plains Athletic Conference action hitting the road to take on Dakota Wesleyan Saturday Sept. 17 with kickoff set for 3:00 pm in Mitchell, SD.
