Men's Soccer Picks Up Clean Sheet Against Doane
Hastings, NE – The Hastings College men’s soccer team did just enough to defeat Doane 2-0 on Wednesday night on Lloyd Wilson Field.

Hastings, NE – The Hastings College men's soccer team did just enough to defeat Doane 2-0 on Wednesday night on Lloyd Wilson Field.
The Tigers didn't put much pressure on the back line of the Broncos but Hastings did struggle to get on the board as things got pretty chippy. Doane's Brody Mueller was sent off with a straight red for faking an injury. Then with 3:30 to go in the first half, Tyler Mase was taken down as some pushing and shoving took place resulting in yellow cards for Keegan Goracke-Johnson and Jesus Maganda.
Following this, Christopher Pantelli sent a ball into the box where Sandro Rubio hit a shot that was saved by Hunter Pitt only to have the ball land at the feet of Paul Obrusnik where he ripped a shot off the post, across the goal and into the far side net for the 1-0 lead.
A minute and a half later, a long ball by Jair Arita was sent into the box for Goracke-Johnson where he was tripped up from behind setting up a penalty kick. Ross Murphy calmly stepped up and buried his shot in the top left corner for the 2-0 lead.
The second half did not have much action as the Broncos were able to hold on for the 2-0 victory.
Hastings out shot Doane 20-to-3 and 8-to-2 in shots on goal. Brendan Dally picked up the clean sheet with two saves.
Hastings improves to 10-1 (8-0) on the year and will be back in action Saturday Oct. 15 hitting the road to take on Concordia with kickoff set for 8:00 pm in Seward, NE.
