Men's Soccer Finishes GPAC Regular Season Unbeaten
Sioux Center, IA – The Hastings College men’s soccer team came from a goal down to defeat Dordt 2-1 on Saturday evening to end the regular season unbeaten in conference action.

Sioux Center, IA – The Hastings College men's soccer team came from a goal down to defeat Dordt 2-1 on Saturday evening to end the regular season unbeaten in conference action.
It was not the start the Broncos were looking for as the Defenders struck first in the 5th minute on a goal from Javier Moscardo to take the 1-0 lead.
The Defenders ended up with an injury to its starting keeper so back up Brandon Hansen came in just 12 minutes into the game and it wouldn't take long for him to get tested.
Jackson Brown sent his corner towards the back post where Tyler Mase got his head on the ball and put it into the goal for the equalizer in the 20th minute.
Late in the first half, Hastings picked up back-to-back corner kicks and then a free kick putting pressure on the Dordt back line and after the free kick from Brown, the ball bounced up and off a Defenders hand setting up a penalty kick. Mase stepped up and ripped his shot to the left of the keeper for the 2-1 lead in the 43rd minute. HC took that lead into the halftime break.
The intensity of the game picked up and plenty of yellow cards were given out to both teams but neither team was able to find a goal. Things took a negative turn for the Broncos when Ryan Lewis picked up his second yellow and was sent off in the 87th minute. Thankfully, Dordt was unable to put any kind of pressure on the Bronco back line as Hastings escaped with the 2-1 victory.
Not a lot of shots in this game as Hastings out shot Dordt 7-to-4 and 5-to-4 in shots on goal. A total of eight cards were dished out in this game.
Hastings finishes the regular season 13-1-1 (10-0-1) and will be the No. 1 seed in the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament as the Broncos will welcome Mount Marty to town Thursday Nov. 3 with kickoff set for 7:00 pm on Lloyd Wilson Field. Hastings has also clinched the first automatic bid to nationals by winning the regular season conference championship.
