Late Run Pushes Iowa Wesleyan Past Men's Basketball

The Broncos were shooting lights out for the first 33 minutes of the game and following a Tyrique McMurrin jumper and then a three from Reggie Thomas to make it 61-55 with 7:38 left to go in the game.
Then the game completely changed as the Tigers would go on a 14-1 run to go from down six points to take a seven point lead of its own with just :39 to go in the game. Now after Thomas would make two free throws, the Bronco defense would get a turnover and then Evan Kingston would get fouled and make both free throws to make it 69-66 with :18 to go.
Thomas would be forced to fouled Gacoby Jones and he would make both of his free throws to go up 71-66. Hastings came down and got two good looks from behind the arc but couldn't get a shot to go down as time ran out as the Broncos dropped the road game by five points.
Thomas led the way with 23 points by going 5-for-7 from downtown and 8-for-9 from the line. Phil Cisrow added 13 point son 5-for-8 shooting. Kingston finished with 10 points while McMurrin finished with eight and Grady Corrigan ended with seven points.
The Broncos finished the game shooting 42.2 percent (19-for-45) but were shooting better than 50 percent until the final seven minutes and finished the game shooting 54.5 percent (12-for-22) from behind the arc. The Tigers shot 51.9 percent (27-for-52) but just 20 percent (4-for-20) from behind the arc.
Rebounding went the way of IWU 30-to-23 and another big stat that stood out was points in the paint as the Tigers out scored the Broncos 42-12 in the paint.
Hastings falls to 11-3 (5-2) on the year and will be back in action Thursday Dec. 29 hitting the road to take on Presentation with tipoff set for 7:00 pm in Aberdeen, SD.
