Hastings peppered the goal early and often and even had one of Naomi Pedroza's shots bounce back into play off the crossbar as the Lady Broncos were looking for an early edge. In the 36th minute it looked like Hastings would finally get on the board but Dekota Schuberts header also bounced back into play off the crossbar. Up to this point, Hastings had 12 total shots, two shots off the crossbar and nothing to show for it.
Hastings had also compiled a number of corner kicks and finally found a combination that worked and of course, Megan Lampe would find an open Schubert. Lampe sent the corner to the far post where Schubert beat her defender and headed the ball just inside the near post to give the Lady Broncos the 1-0 lead in the 39th minute.
Hastings looked to be heading to the halftime break with a 1-0 lead but with :30 to play in the half, Defender keeper Lydia Zylstra sent a pass just outside the 18 but Sophia Lee took the ball from the defender and ripped a shot into the back of the net to make it 2-0 at the break.
As the second half started and the fog began to thicken, Hastings continued to dominate play but the action would end and the Lady Broncos would be crowned GPAC Champions.
Hastings finished the night celebrating in the middle of the field and of course with plenty of photos after it was all said and done.
The Lady Broncos outshot the Defenders 26-to-1 and 13-to-1 on shots on goal.
Hastings will be the No. 1 seed in the GPAC Tournament but will have to wait for the announcement on who they will host next week on the quarterfinals.
