Women's Soccer Upset by Briar Cliff
Sioux City, IA – The Hastings College women’s soccer team ended up with its first loss of the 2023 season dropping a 1-0 decision to Briar Cliff on Wednesday afternoon on the newly renovated Faber Field.

Sioux City, IA – The Hastings College women's soccer team ended up with its first loss of the 2023 season dropping a 1-0 decision to Briar Cliff on Wednesday afternoon on the newly renovated Faber Field.
Hastings dominated every aspect of the game when it comes to possession, shots and shots on goal but just couldn't find the back of the net in its 1-0 loss to the Chargers.
On a few occasions, Hastings got shots off that turned into rebound opportunities but there was no one there for the put back.
Late in the second half, the Lady Broncos had a golden opportunity when Sophia Lee worked her way to a ball that eluded the keeper and just had a defender between her and the goal but her shot just missed the goal wide to the right in the 72nd minute as HC still trailed 1-0.
Hastings continued to pepper shots towards goal but the clock eventually ran out as Briar Cliff pulled off the upset.
HC out shot BCU 19-to-3 including 12-to-3 in shots on goal. Dekota Schubert led the way with seven total shots with three of them being on target.
Hastings falls to 7-1-1 (2-1-1) on the year and will be back in action Saturday Sept. 30 as Morningside comes to town with kickoff set for 8:00 pm out on Lloyd Wilson Field.
