It's the crazy game called soccer where you can dominate the match from a possession standpoint and still find yourself on the wrong end of the decision. Thankfully, that didn't happen to the Lady Broncos on Sunday and were able to stay undefeated.
Hastings nearly took the lead in the 17th minute when Dekota Schubert had keeper Sophia Holloway beat but the ball caromed off the crossbar to keep it a scoreless contest.
HC kept the pressure up and finally broke through from an unlikely source as Sara Pedroza found Lauren Metz as she found the back of the net in the 42nd minute for the 1-0 lead. This was just her third goal of her career having spent the batter part of the past three seasons on defense.
Throughout the second half, Hastings again dominated the action but could not find the back of the net again.
Thankfully, the back line of the Lady Broncos only allowed one shot on goal in the second half where Jackson Pedersen would make the lone save of the match off of a header in the 84th minute.
Hastings out shot the Wildcats 18-to-4 including an 11-to-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Hastings is now 3-0 on the year and will be back in action Wednesday Sept. 6 as Kansas Wesleyan comes to town with kickoff set for 5:30 pm out on Lloyd Wilson Field.
