Volleyball Swept by No. 19 Concordia
Hastings, NE - The Hastings College volleyball team was hoping to catch a struggling Concordia team off guard for Homecoming but the Bulldogs defeated Hastings 19-25, 22-25, 15-25 on Saturday afternoon inside Lynn Farrell Arena.
Little runs in set one allowed Concordia to pull away from Hastings as the first run was when the Lady Broncos trailed 7-5 but two kills and a setting error made it 10-5.
HC picked up a kill from Emily Krolikowski (SR/Cairo, NE) and a service ace from Ireland Currely but CUNE connected on three straight kills to lead 13-7. From there Hastings was unable to get any closer than five dropping the set 25-18.
In set two, Hastings had built a slim 16-14 lead but the Bulldogs would not let things go picking up a Gabi Nordaker kill and a service ace by Kennedy VanScoy to tie things up .
There the teams went back-and-forth and were still tied 21-21 before Concordia finished the set on a four to one run taking the commanding two sets to none lead.
Two quick kills from Amani Monroe (SR/Colorado Springs, CO) and a Bulldog attack error gave Hastings the quick 3-1 lead but a Bronco error, a Nordaker kill and two Camryn Opfer kill gave the lead right back to CUNE as the Bulldogs never looked back.
Hastings was held to just .125 hitting for the match while the Bulldogs hit .363.
Krolikowski led HC with 11 kills hitting .240 while Monroe added six kills hitting .333. Jaisee Stinson (JR/Omaha, NE) finished with 14 assists and Makenna Asher (SO/Hastings, NE) finished with 13 assists. Miriam Miller (FR/Lincoln, NE) led with 13 digs.
Hastings falls to 11-6 (2-3) on the year and will be back in action Monday Sept. 20 hitting the road to take on Univ. of Nebraska-Kearney in an exhibition match set for 5:30 p.m. in Kearney, NE
