Men's Soccer Dominates Doane
Crete, NE - The Hastings College men's soccer team put on a clinic in its 7-0 victory over rival Doane on Wednesday night.
The first half statistically showed a fairly even match as the Broncos broke through when Adam Knight (SR/Wakefield, England) scored in the 15th minute off the Daniel Fragachan (SR/Caracas, Venezuela) assist to make it 1-0.
Then something you certainly don't see everyday is Joe White (JR/London, England) scored his first goal on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute to make it 2-0.
The game took a turn early in the second half when Alex Wells was sent off with a straight red card in the 53rd minute putting the Broncos a man up and Hastings would take full advantage.
A few minutes later, Knight scored again to make it 3-0 and Hastings would not look back.
Marc Tautz (JR/Limburg, Germany) would pick up an easy goal off the Daniel Whitehall (SO/Warrington, England) assist in the 63rd minute to make it 4-0. Whitehall would get on the board in the 66th minute with his 21st goal of the year.
Tautz scored his second goal of the night in the 73rd minute and then Bruno Moreira (SO/Divinopolis, Brazil) scored his first goal of the season in the 89th minute to round out the scoring.
After a tight first half where Hastings held an 11-8 advantage in shots, the Broncos out shot the Tigers 18-1 in the second half en route to its 7-0 victory.
To go along with his goal, White picked up two saves in the game.
Hastings is now 14-0 (6-0) on the season and will be back in action Saturday Oct. 15 hitting the road to take on Mount Marty with kick-off set for 3:30 p.m. in Yankton, SD.
