Men's Soccer Stays Undefeated With Shutout of Hannibal-LaGrange
Hannibal, MO - The Hastings College men's soccer team continues its steady play shutting down Hannibal-LaGrange 2-0 on Monday afternoon.
The Broncos had its fair share of opportunities throughout the first half but HLG would get help from its back line in blocking a few shots along with goalkeeper Joaquin Hansen coming up with a few saves.
But in the 33rd minute, Marc Tautz (JR/Limburg, Germany) sent a perfect pass to Eric Birighitti (FR/Perth, Australia) for his first collegiate goal to make it 1-0.
Hastings would carry that lead into the second half until Daniel Whitehall (SO/Warrington, England) would steal the ball from a defender and hit a shot that bounced off the post right back to his feet where he would finish for the 2-0 lead in the 78th minute.
That all but iced the game for the Broncos holding on for the 2-0 victory.
Joe White (JR/London, England) picked up his second shutout of the season recording five saves.
The Broncos also out shot the Spartans 12-8 including a slight edge in shots on goal at 6-5.
Hastings now moves to 4-0 on the year and will be back in action Friday Sept. 9 as (RV) Georgia Gwinnett comes to town with kick-off set for 7:15 p.m. at Lloyd Wilson Field.
