Anderson Collects Two More Golds While Pinkerton Shines; HC Finishes 4th
Orange City, IA – The Hastings College women’s track and field team competed at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday as the Broncos went on to place fourth with 77.5 team points. Each Bronco that finished in the top eight earned All-Conference honors.

Kiara Anderson added to her impressive career picking up GPAC gold medals No. 5 and 6 as she won the Hammer in record setting fashion with a mark of 58.36m as that is an "A" standard national qualifying mark which broke the meet and school record. Then Anderson won the Discus with an "A" standard national qualifying mark of 48.49m. Anderson then finished second in the shot put with an "A" standard national qualifying mark of 14.23m. Anderson was alson named Outstanding Athlete of the Meet.
Veronica Pinkerton won the 800m run in a time of 2:11.21 which is an "A" standard national qualifying mark, the GPAC and school record. That school record was set by Alison Nichols back in 1990. She now ranks sixth in the NAIA.
Ava Brackhan brought home the gold medal in the 5000m race walk in a time of 30:49.93 while Baylee Evarts finished second in a time of 31:26.89 and Carley Davis finished third in a time of 35:24.02.
Nisa Thomas picked up a second-place finish in the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.40 while Jaida Rowe finished fourth in a time of 14.60. Rowe then finished second in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:02.95 which in an "A" standard national qualifying time and ranks 10th in the NAIA.
Myricle Moffett finished fifth in the 100m dash in a time of 12.38.
Elizabeth Baade placed fifth in the 10,000m run in a time of 41:28.20.
The 4x800m relay team consisting of Velarde, Whitney Cure, Pinkerton and Jilee Golus finished third in a time of 9:49.03.
The 4x400m relay team consisting of Rowe, Moffett, Cecilia Velarde and Pinkerton placed sixth in a time of 4:04.14.
Trinity Doublin finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 10.86m.
Hastings will now try and add a few more national qualifiers at the Concordia Twilight May 10 in Seward, NE and or the Loper Last Chance May 11 in Kearney, NE.
