Women's Track and Field Brings Home Three Golds; Women Finish Fourth
Yankton, SD – The Hastings College women’s track and field team was in action this weekend at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships and would finish fourth with a team score of 62. All athletes that finished in the top eight earned all-conference honors.

Nisa Thomas broke her own school record again in the 60m hurdles winning in a time of 8.53 as her previous record was 8.54. This also broke the meet record and stadium record. Jaida Rowe would finish seventh in a time of 9.25. Thomas also won the 200m dash in a time of 25.64 which is a "B" standard national qualifying time.
Kiara Anderson won the weight throw by breaking the meet record with a toss of 19.00m which is an "A" standard national qualifying mark and also puts her in second place all-time in school history. Anderson went on to finish fourth in the shot put with an "A" standard national qualifying mark of 13.53m. Kylee Hasselman finished eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.05m
In the 3000m race walk, Tristyn DiPentino set a meet record while taking first place in a time of 17:19 which is also a "B" national qualifying time. Baylee Evarts finished second in a time of 18:35, Ava Brackhan finished third in a time of 19:02 while Carley Davis finished fifth in a time of 19:41.
Veronica Pinkerton placed third in the 800m run in a time of 2:22
The women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Maxey, Pinkerton, Rowe and Thomas finished fifth in a time of 4:06.
The women's 4x800m relay team consisting of Velarde, Whitney Cure, Cynthia Chaparro Belloc and Grace Dow finished sixth in a time of 10:28.
Myricle Moffett finished sixth in the 60m dash in a time of 7.90.
Cecilia Velarde finished seventh in the 600m run in a time of 1:45.
Trinity Doublin finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 10.62m.
Rhys Maxey would finish eighth in the 400m dash in a time of 1:00.
In the 5000m run, Elizabeth Baade finished eighth in a time of 19:47.
Hastings will now turn its attention to the NAIA Indoor National Track and Field Championships to be held up in Brookings, SD Feb. 28 through March 2.
