Women's Tennis Falls 5-2 to Wildcats

(Crete, NE) – Playing their final non-conference match before GPAC play begins, Hastings took on Baker, losing 5-2 on Saturday.
Baker won 7-5 at #2 doubles and Hastings won 7-5 at #3 doubles, as senior Paige Willcoxon and sophomore Kayleigh Cetak evened up the doubles point. At #1 doubles, juniors Josline Carter and Victoria Harris went to a tiebreak, but fell 7-5, as Doane took a 1-0 lead into singles play.
At #1 singles and #2 singles, Carter and Harris each won four games in one of their sets, but lost 6-0 in the other set. Baker won 6-3, 6-1 at #3 singles and 6-2, 6-1 at #4 singles to go up 5-0. Hastings won the final two matches, as sophomore Lexi Benson won 6-1, 6-3 at #5 singles and junior Abby Harveson took #6 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
Up next, Hastings will open GPAC play on Monday, Mar. 23 with a home match against Doane at 4pm.
