After Kyleigh Boever threw 10.0 innings and 161 pitches in the 5-4 win over Dordt she would have to miss out on today as Bailey Schmit would be on the mound against the Red Raiders. She would keep the Lady Broncos in the game giving up five runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings of work but through the first six innings, Hastings managed just two hits.
Macie Mays would make sure Hastings would not get shutout as she blasted a solo homerun in the seventh as the final score line read 6-1. Katyn Kappler and Sydney Schelkopf each had a hit against the conference's best pitcher Kate Kralik as she improved to 13-0 on the year.
In game two it was Hastings that would jump out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first as Lexie Mudloff sent a RBI double to right center. But two big innings where Northwester picked up four runs in the third and in the sixth put the game away at 8-1.
Hastings scattered eight hits in the game two loss with Schelkopf leading the way by going 3-for-4 with a run scored.
Hastings is now 14-20 (8-8) on the year and will be back in action Friday Apr. 21 as Dakota Wesleyan comes to town for a doubleheader with first pitch set for 4:00 pm out at the Smith Softball Complex.
