Dakota Wesleyan Defeats Broncos, 83-70

Junior Ben Boudreau hit from deep to begin the game, then the Tigers answered with two threes of their own. Senior Myles Simon and Boudreau each scored inside to get within one at the 15:31 mark, but Dakota Wesleyan grew the lead to seven with 12:38 to go. Senior DaRon Hall later got Hastings within four just over the halfway point of the half.
Down 25-20, sophomore Maverick Binder scored Hastings' next five points and they cut the lead to two with 3:30 remaining in the half. A jumper and a three-pointer by Dakota Wesleyan pushed the lead to seven 90 seconds later, then they outscored Hastings by two in the last couple minutes to take a 39-30 halftime lead.
Simon, Hall, and sophomore Micah Hinrichs scored to start the second half, trimming the lead to five just two minutes in. Dakota Wesleyan answered with a 7-0 to go back up 12. The lead grew to 15 at the 11:26 mark, but layups from Simon and Boudreau got them within 11 with 10 minutes to go.
From there, Dakota Wesleyan went back up 15 with seven minutes left and by 18 at the 4:41 mark. Hastings creeped closer with five points from senior Christian Pujals to make it 77-63 and junior Owen Wright got them within 12 with 1:57 left, but that would be as close as they would get, as the Tigers took the 83-70 win.
Dakota Wesleyan shot 61 percent from the field and 50 percent from three to Hastings' 50 percent from the field and 28 percent from three. The Tigers also outrebounded the Broncos by six, 26-20.
Hall finished with 13 points and three rebounds, while Simon also added 13 points. Boudreau had 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Pujals came off the bench to score 10 points. Hinrichs led the team in rebounding with seven, to go along with five points.
