Junior Ben Boudreau responded with a three off a steal by sophomore Eli Podoll. Leading 31-26 with 3 minutes left, Boudreau nailed another from downtown to go up eight. Doane made four consecutive free throws to get within one, which stood until the 3:39 mark when Boudreau drilled a three from Hall coming out of a Hastings timeout. Boudreau forced a steal at the other end and Simon made both at the line after getting fouled to go up 60-54 with 2:50 left.
Leading 62-56, Binder and Boudreau stole the ball on the next two defensive trips, but Hastings was unable to turn those into points. Binder grabbed the rebound and made two at the line to go up five with 25 seconds left.
The Tigers rushed it up the court and cut the lead to two on a deep ball. Following a missed one-and-one by Hastings and a Tiger rebound and timeout with seven seconds remaining, Doane got a good look from behind the arc, but it bounced off the back rims and into Boudeau's hands as time expired to seal the 64-62 win.
