Lancers Control Second Half, Take Down Broncos 64-52

Hastings took a 5-2 lead early, getting a jumper from senior DaRon Hall and a three from junior Ben Boudreau. Hall scored twice more to put them up 9-4 five minutes in, but the Lancers went on a 10-0 run to go up 14-9. The Broncos looked to the bench for some scoring, getting points from freshman Riley Bombeck and junior Owen Wright to get within one halfway through the period.
Sophomore Maverick Binder put the Broncos back in front after the media timeout with a three-pointer and-one, converting the four-point play. After Mount Marty took a 24-19 lead, Bombeck completed a three-point play and senior Myles Simon tied the game with a pair of free throws. With the Lancers holding a 27-24 lead with 5:08 left in the half, Hastings ended the half on a 14-2 run, led by six points from Hall, including a buzzer-beating layup to go up 38-29.
The Broncos shot 45 percent from the field in the first half and held the Lancers to 36 percent overall. Hastings also had an advantage on the glass, outrebounding Mount Marty 18-11 in the opening half. Hall led all scorers with 12 points, along with four rebounds and two assists.
In the second half, Hastings would take a 10-point lead on a Boudreau jumper three minutes into the half, but Mount Marty closed the gap to four a couple minutes later. The Lancers continued to inch closer, eventually taking a 48-47 lead at the 10:42 mark.
Hall briefly stopped the Lancer momentum with a free throw that was followed by a layup, but Mount Marty would continue to score, going ahead 56-50 with five minutes left. The final five minutes would belong to Mount Marty as well, outscoring Hastings 8-2 down the stretch.
Mount Marty shot 43 percent overall in the second half, while Hastings was held to 15 percent shooting in the second half and eight percent from three. They also outrebounded Hastings 27-13 in the second half. For the game, Hastings shot 30 percent overall compared to Mount Marty's 40 percent.
Hall finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Boudreau had 11 points and six rebounds, while Binder had 10 points and nine rebounds.
