Morningside Downs Hastings
Hastings - It was a tough day on the gridiron for the Hastings College football team falling 76-14 to NAIA No. 1 Morningside on Saturday at Lloyd Wilson Field.
The Mustangs had things working for its opening snap as QB Ryan Kasdorf hit Devin Thomas down the seam for a 64-yard score and the early 6-0 lead.
The Broncos after falling behind 20-0 in the first quarter showed some signs of life as Matt Overmiller (SR/Hastings, NE) found Noah Housh (SO/Lincoln, NE) for a 65-yard completion that got the Broncos deep into Mustang territory.
Overmiller would find Austin Curlee (JR/Round Rock, TX) on the fade for the touchdown and cut the deficit to 20-7 midway through the first quarter.
From then on out it was all Morningside.
Housh finished with a career high 168-yards receiving and a touchdown.
Tyler Harris (JR/Omaha, NE) finished with a game high 15 tackles.
Hastings is now 3-3 (2-3) on the season and will be back in action Saturday Oct. 18 hitting the road to take on Midland with kick-off set for 4:00 p.m. in Fremont, NE.
