Bax, Placke 1st Team All-American; Krolikowski Honorable Mention
For the second year in a row, Katie Placke (SR/Grand Island, NE) has been named 1st team NAIA-AVCA All-American for her efforts during her senior campaign. Placke led the team averaging 3.2 kills per set and also led the team with 5.6 assists per set. For her career, she averaged 1.9 kills per set and 7.22 assists per set. She finishes her career with 920 kills, 3,493 assists and 1,034 digs and will go down as one of the best volleyball student-athletes to ever set foot on this campus. She also moved to No. 2 on the Hastings all-time list for career hitting percentage finishing at .291.
Also for the second year in a row, Jill Bax (SR/Lincoln, NE) has been named NAIA-AVCA Libero of the Year and has also been named 1st Team All-American. She finished the 2017 campaign with 503 digs and also broke the school record with 2,102 digs during her time as a Bronco. Bax is also the only Libero on either the first or second team.
Casey Krolikowski (JR/Cairo, NE) earned Honorable Mention All-American honors with 260 kills (2.57 kps.). She was second on the team with 279 digs.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2017 Volleyball All-America Teams as well as the coach of the year, player of the year and libero of the year, chosen by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee, Tuesday. This committee is made up of NAIA-AVCA officers and the championship committee, Three teams are named, plus honorable mention.
