Women's T&F Delivers 3 First Place Finishes at Concordia

Sophomore Jaida Rowe qualified for the 60m hurdle finals by taking first (8.96) in the prelims and freshman Lucy Carey took fourth in the race (9.43). In the finals of the 60m hurdles, Rowe again won it, this time by .25 seconds with a B-Standard time of 8.86, which ranks fourth in school history. Carey also took fourth in the finals as well (9.48).
The Broncos performed well in the 3000m race walk by taking the top three spots, as junior Ava Brackhan took first in the event with a time of 18:43.02. Senior Shania Santos was right behind in second with a time of 18:43.48 and freshman Destini Johnson was third with a time of 20:06.02.
Senior Zailee Poulson won the high jump by clearing 5'03"00, besting Doane and Concordia by two inches. Rowe also competed in the 400m dash, taking second place by just .30 seconds (58.74) to Concordia. In the 1000m, senior Cynthia Chaparro-Belloc clocked in with a time of 3:18.15 to take eighth.
Senior Cecilia Velarde had a good performance in the 600m run, placing fifth with a time of 1:44.61 and sophomore Whitney Cure also placed 11th in the 800m (1:50.04). Freshman Kamerin Turner was 13th in the 200m with a time of 27.74.
Junior Trinity Doublin finished in 12th place in the triple jump (32'03.00"). Turner placed ninth in the long jump, finishing with a best jump of 16'00.25", while Carey was 13th (15'07.50"). In the throwing events, junior Kylee Hasselmann competed in the weight throw, finishing 11th with a top throw of 47'04.50".
Up next, Hastings will travel to Mitchell, SD to compete at the GPAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 14-15, beginning at 1pm on Friday.
