Softball Drops Pair of Games at Concordia
(Seward, NE) – The Hastings Broncos took on the Concordia Bulldogs in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon in Seward, falling 2-0 in game one and 8-3 in game two.

(Seward, NE) – The Hastings Broncos took on the Concordia Bulldogs in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon in Seward, falling 2-0 in game one and 8-3 in game two.
In the first inning of game one, both teams walked to load the bases with two outs, but the pitchers came up with outs to keep the game scoreless.
After Concordia got an inning-ending double play on a lineout to end the Bronco fourth inning, they carried that momentum into the bottom of the fourth. The Bulldogs walked to begin the inning and two batters later, they hit a home run to deep left to take a 2-0 lead.
Hastings had chances later in the game to inch closer, getting runners on first and second with nobody out in the sixth and a one-out walk in the seventh, but the Bulldogs hung on for the 2-0 defeat.
Freshman Raygan Hoos recorded a multi-hit game, going 2-3 at the plate. Sophomore Dani Sitts pitched four innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out one. Sophomore Kassidy Beavers threw the final two scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out one.
In game two, senior Katyn Kappler led off the game with a single and after going to second on sac bunt, she scored on an RBI-single to right center by senior Lexie Mudloff to go up 1-0. Concordia answered right back in the bottom of the first, scoring four runs to take a 4-1 lead.
With two outs in the second inning, sophomore Graecy Graf singled up the middle and Kappler, who was 2-4 in game two, brought her home on a base hit to center field. They cut the lead to 4-3 in the third, as Lee walked and took second on a groundout, then scored on an RBI-single from senior Ana Medeiros.
Concordia got a run back on a couple of hits in the third to go up 5-3, then added two runs on three hits in the fourth and a solo home run in the fifth, making it an 8-3 final.
Up next, Hastings will host Morningside in a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 11 at 1 and 3pm.
