Against Aquinas, the Saints hit back-to-back doubles with one out in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Hastings came close to responding in the bottom of the first with a couple of walks by sophomore Sofia Carroll and junior Kaylee Pinneo, but Aquinas got out of the inning with a strikeout.
Aquinas added three runs in the fifth, all coming with two outs. After a single, a two-run home run followed and the Saints hit a solo home run in the next at-bat to go up 3-0. Hastings was only able to muster three base-runners after the first inning, all singles in separate innings.
The Saints added a run in the seventh to make it a 5-0 final. Pinneo, senior Lauren Lee, and senior Sam Skinner each had a hit for the Broncos. Senior Bailey Schmit came in out of the bullpen and pitched the final 1.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits.

The lead would be short-lived, as Defiance scored four runs in second, including the last three being unearned runs. Hastings had runners on base in each of the next two innings with one out, but the Yellow Jackets turned both situations into inning-ending double plays.
