Men's Soccer Ends Season in GPAC Quarterfinal
Sioux City, IA – The Hastings College men’s soccer team had its season come to a close in the quarterfinals of the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament by losing 1-0 to Morningisde on Wednesday night.

The game in the first half was played pretty evenly but it was Mustangs were able to strike first in the 21stminute when Jurre Thielen hit Levi Von Hagen for the goal and the 1-0 lead.
The Broncos would get their opportunities and the first good chance was in the 28th minute when Ayo Makinde broke free in the box but his shot just missed the frame to the far post.
The game headed into the second half as the Broncos were looking for the equalizer while Jack Howard and the back line kept Morningside to just the one goal.
Hastings had a golden opportunity in the 54th minute on a through ball as Joe Vokins hit a low shot but keeper Timon Koerber stuck the leg out for the save. Then on the ensuing corner, Juan Arteaga-Lopez got off a shot that looked like it might go in but Koerber turned that one away as well.
As the game wound down, the Broncos got one more great opportunity when Will Turner hit a shot that beat Koerber but bounced back into play off the post in the 89th minute. That was the final opportunity as the Broncos season came to an end with the 1-0 loss.
Hastings finished with 14 shots while Morningside had 15. HC had five shots on goal while the Mustangs finished with seven.
Howard finished the game with six saves.
The Broncos end the season with 6-8-4 record.
