Men's Soccer Upends Dordt on Foggy Senior Night
Hastings, NE – The Hastings College men’s soccer team finished the regular season with a 3-2 victory over Dordt out on Lloyd Wilson Field on Senior Night.

The Broncos looked good in the first half dominating the action by out shooting the Defenders 10-to-2 while playing in some very dense fog that only worsened as night fell over the stadium.
Hastings dominated play but the score remained 0-0 into the 33rd minute when a foul would get called on Dordt in the box setting up a penalty kick for Ruben Bande. Bande buried his shot to the left of the keeper and the 1-0 lead.
Then in the 37th minute, Juan Rubio sent a nice through ball that Ayo Mackinde chipped over the keeper and into the net for the 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Then it seemed as though the teams switched jerseys as Dordt began to dominate possession and shots in the second half and eventually it paid off.
Anton Forsch found Javier Moscardo to make it 2-1 in the 54th minute and then Marco Laenen connected with Blake Hansen for the equalizer in the 57th minute following a controversial no call on a questionable dangerous play moments before the goal.
Needless to say, Hastings needed some magic if they were to come out on top and would find it in the 85thminute. Sandro Rubio sent a beautiful cross into the box that Will Turner headed over the keeper, off the bottom of the cross bar and into the goal for the 3-2 lead.
The Defenders were unable to get a shot off the rest of the way as Hastings came away with the one goal victory.
Hastings finished the game out shooting Dordt 15-to-10 and 7-to-2 in shots on goal.
The Broncos are now 6-8-4 (5-3-3) and will now turn its attention to the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament. Hastings will have to wait for seeding as some games still have to be played on Saturday.
