Escalera Wins Second Straight Event; Men Finish 5th at Blue River
Lincoln, NE – The Hastings College men’s golf team competed in the Blue River Classic on Tuesday and Wednesday bringing home a fifth place finish with a three day total of 905. Morningside won with a score of 874.

Gabriel Escalera won his second straight event by carding a four under 212. After working through some windy conditions on Tuesday to fire back-to-back even par 72s, he came back with a tie for the low round at four under 68 which left him in a tie for first with Sam Arnold of Doane. They went to a playoff where Escalera sunk a 15-foot birdie putt to win the event.
Ryan Burns finished with a three day total of 223 which placed him in a tie for 13th at seven over par. His best round was on day one with a two under 70.
Cullen Buscher finished tied for 46th with a three day total of 236. His best round was round three with an even par 72. Rob Noffsinger finished tied for 64th with a three round total of 242.
Hastings will now turn its attention to the Dordt/Northwestern Invite on Sept. 11-12 out in Sioux City, SD.
