Men's Bowling Places Fifth at Nationals; Upset NAIA No. 1 Tennessee Southern
Sienna Heights, MI – The Hastings College men’s bowling team competed at the Men’s NAIA Bowling National Championships on Thursday and Friday ending up with a fifth place finish.
Sienna Heights, MI – The Hastings College men's bowling team competed at the Men's NAIA Bowling National Championships on Thursday and Friday ending up with a fifth place finish. This is the highest finish for the men at nationals.
On day one, the teams lined up for Baker games where the Broncos finished with a total pin count of 4800 which placed them in ninth place heading into bracket action on Friday.
Once the seeds were figured out, it was on to bracket action where Hastings faced off against No. 8 seed Pikeville (KY). The Broncos fell behind 2-1 but won game four 278-204 and then took the win in game five 172-157.
This propelled them into a matchup with No. 1 seed Indiana Tech where Hastings won game one 205-193 but would drop the next three games moving down to the elimination bracket. There the Broncos faced off against Spring Arbor and again fell behind 2-1 before winning game four 245-163 and game five 200-193.
Hastings advanced to take on NAIA No. 1 Tennessee Southern and the Broncos prevailed 3-1. HC won game one 245-168 and after dropping game two, Hastings won game three 220-157 and game four 222-210 to advance to the elimination bracket quarterfinal. Hastings picked up the win in game one 207-203 but ended up losing the next three games as it season came to a close with a fifth place finish at nationals.
